When do you need to merge PDFs?
Common scenarios include: combining a CV and cover letter into one file, merging multiple scanned pages into a single document, assembling a multi-chapter report, or combining bank statements for a mortgage application.
How to merge PDFs in your browser (free, no account)
- Go to signvert.com/tools/merge-pdf.
- Drop your PDF files onto the page or click "Add PDFs". You can add as many files as you need.
- Each file shows a thumbnail of its first page, its page count, and its file size.
- Drag the handle (⠿) on any file card to reorder the files — the merged PDF will follow this order.
- Click "Merge & Download" to combine all files and download the result.
Everything runs in your browser using pdf-lib. No files are uploaded to any server.
Tips for better merged PDFs
- Check page orientation before merging. If some files are landscape and others portrait, the merged PDF will mix orientations. Consider rotating pages first.
- Compress large files first. If your merged PDF will be very large, use our File Compress tool on individual files before merging.
- Order matters. The drag-to-reorder feature lets you set the exact sequence before merging — you don't need to rename files to control order.
What's the difference between merging and combining PDFs?
They're the same thing. "Merge", "combine", "join", and "append" all refer to taking multiple PDF files and producing a single PDF containing all their pages in sequence.
Can I merge a PDF with a Word document?
Not directly. Convert the Word document to PDF first using our Word to PDF tool, then merge the resulting PDF with your other files.
