Does my document get uploaded or stored anywhere?

No. Your PDF is loaded directly into your browser's memory and never sent to any server. The signed document is downloaded straight to your device. Nothing is stored by us.

What file types are supported?

Signvert supports PDF files, Word documents (.docx), and images (JPG, PNG). You can also convert Word to PDF, merge PDFs, split PDFs, compress files, and more using the free tools.

Can I sign a document on my phone?

Yes. Signvert works in any modern mobile browser (Safari on iPhone, Chrome on Android). You can draw your signature with your finger directly on the touchscreen.

Is a signature made with Signvert legally valid?

That depends on the laws of your country and the requirements of the specific document. For everyday purposes — signing a tenancy agreement, a consent form, or a work document — a signature image is generally accepted. For formal legal or financial documents, check with the receiving party or a legal professional about their specific requirements.

What is the maximum file size?

You can upload PDFs and documents up to 50 MB. Most everyday documents are well under this limit.

Can I convert a scanned PDF to Word?

Yes. The PDF to Word tool uses Tesseract.js OCR to automatically detect and extract text from scanned PDFs. It supports over 20 languages including English, French, German, Spanish, Chinese, and Arabic.

The short version

Signvert processes your documents entirely within your own browser. We do not upload, store, or transmit your files or signatures to any server. We collect no personal data. This policy explains exactly how the tool works and what (very little) information we handle.

1. Who we are

Signvert is a free, browser-based document signing tool. It is provided as-is for personal and professional use. There is no company account, no subscription, and no user database behind this service.

2. What data we collect

We collect no personal data. Specifically:

We do not collect your name, email address, or any contact information.
We do not store your documents. Files you upload are loaded directly into your browser's memory and are never sent to a server.
We do not store your signature. If you choose to save your signature for next time, it is saved only in your browser's local storage on your own device — not on our servers.
We do not use cookies for tracking or advertising.

3. How your document is processed

When you upload a PDF, it is read directly by your browser using standard Web APIs (the File API and PDF.js). All rendering, signature placement, and PDF generation happen entirely on your device. The finished signed document is downloaded directly to your device. At no point does your file travel over the internet to any server operated by us.

4. Local storage

If you tick "Save this signature for next time" in the signature panel, your signature image is saved to your browser's localStorage. This data:

Remains on your device only.
Is never transmitted to us or any third party.
Can be cleared at any time by clearing your browser's site data, or by clicking the delete icon in the signature panel.

5. Analytics

We may use privacy-respecting, cookieless analytics (such as Umami) to understand aggregate usage patterns — for example, how many people visit the site per day. This data is anonymised and does not identify individual users. No personal data is collected as part of analytics.

6. Third-party services

Signvert loads the following third-party resources:

Google Fonts — used to render handwriting-style fonts in the signature panel. When fonts are loaded, Google's servers may log your IP address as part of a standard HTTP request. You can review Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
Material Symbols — icon font loaded from Google Fonts CDN, subject to the same note above.

No advertising networks, social media trackers, or data brokers are used.

7. Children's privacy

Signvert is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the tool after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
